~Election Epilogue

We are putting out the Scottsdale Activist again by popular demand. In the 30 days since we put the Activist out for the first time in 7 months we've had 42,355 hits which means the information is getting to those who have been asking. Obviously, that information need is NOT being fulfilled by any local media organization or local publications for whatever reason.

~ 2 Council Seats Unethically Bought and Paid For?

On one hand, possibly unethical "Big Money" in amounts in excess of $68,000 each from Southwest Ambulance (in addition to other directly donated campaign money) literally bought 2 seats on the Scottsdale City Council for Linda Milhaven and Dennis Robbins.

On the other hand, without any corporate sponsorship, only donated money from concerned individual citizens, a lot of honesty, involvement with the citizens, and hard work by many average citizens won the other seat for Bob Littlefield.

We say "possibly unethical big money" because it remains to be seen how council persons elect Linda Milhaven and Dennis Robbins will vote or will legally and properly recuse themselves should Southwest Ambulance or anyone connected to them in any way shape of form decide to try to steal the contract through false representation or a total flaunting of them abusing the laws. This could be done with unethical votes from the 2 new council members as a pay-back for the huge "support" money spent obviously and openly on their behalf by Southwest Ambulance….. but we’re watching them very closely!!

We will be watching very closely how these "bought and paid for(?)" council members vote on any issues within which Southwest could possibly be connected in any manner. Our experienced and now extended legal staff will be checking to see if the T’s are crossed and the I’s are dotted properly and that all ethical and legal practices are followed to the letter.

Any deviance from legal and ethical practices will result in huge lawsuits against either of the 2 council members who would dare vote unethically as well as the City Attorney and his staff who could be stupid enough (or paid off?) to allow such a vote. We will hold no punches in publicly exposing these perpetrators as well as the issues should they come about.

~Bond Issues..............

The necessary city bonds were soundly defeated while the school bonds passed……. What’s that all about? Why was the committee for the school bonds illegally allowed to present their case without the permission of the school board, or did the school board turn their back so they would get what they wanted, taxpayers be damned, illegally or not?

We didn’t pass a city bond that would have reduced the city debt by saving the taxpayers over a million dollars by refinancing some of the current bonds we have to pay off at higher interest rates. That was a bad vote on the part of the taxpayers.

Then, we passed a huge bond for school renovation that could have waited for the next election cycle. We need to watch closely who the contractors are who will be hired to do the work on the schools and how much they spent or donated to make sure the school bonds passed.

We understand that taxpayers don’t want to be taxed any more than necessary, but the local media failed miserably in getting the message out concerning the importance of the bonds in either case.

So now we will get better and more school buildings at an increase in taxes while bonds that would have reduced the taxpayer’s costs will have to be paid off quicker and at higher interest rates lost miserably and wrongly in our view.

Cause? A serious failure and some ignorance on the part of the electorate to research the bonds and understand why they were on the ballot in the first place. We received many calls the night before the election asking how voters should vote.

That is a sad but real situation in today’s politics. It boils down to who can spend the most money and twist the facts to their advantage to get their special interest issue voted into law or into a position on the council even though it is very wrong for the city.

It’s time all monies other than private individual taxpayer dollars up to a certain limits were banned from being used for elections. It’s time we went back to looking at the individuals and their qualifications instead of all the big business and union financed slick mailers and other propaganda spewed by the those big dollar reapers of special votes and special considerations because of their "donations", better known as "bought and paid for" candidates and purveyors of false information.

~ End Result…………

We as citizens and taxpayers of Scottsdale have just paid a heavy price due to our ignorance, lack of research on the issues and the candidates, and in believing those scandalous mailers that were about as truthful in some cases as the Carnie Barker at the county fair.

We relied upon the local media(?) to inform us in an educated, non-prejudiced, and neutral manner which never happened except for Laurie Roberts and the Sonoran News. The Scottsdale Republic, Scottsdale Chamber, and Scottsdale Voice failed us miserably on purpose didn’t they?

Let’s hope and pray that Milhaven and Robbins will find a conscience and handle themselves in a very ethical manner by holding the laws, ethical practices, and the citizens in the highest regard no matter who paid to get them elected, but we’re not holding our breath, especially in the case of Milhaven…….. Her checkered history with the city and especially her tight association with the Scottsdale Chamber of "Greed and Horrors" precedes her doesn’t it?

We will be watching both Milhaven and Robbins under our high powered microscope until they prove that they are due the respect that Bob Littlefield enjoys due to his honesty and commitment to the citizens of Scottsdale.

We wonder if they will attend every citizen organization meeting like Bob Littlefield does???

We strongly doubt it for a number of obvious reasons………… One being they're apparently not of our persuasion.......

~Epilogue………

We, the staff of the Activist, blame ourselves somewhat for the outcome of the city election because we didn’t see the huge amount of mis-information early enough to make a significant difference in the outcome due to our regular jobs and illnesses.

Up through the morning after the election, we enjoyed 42,355 hits on the one page website (yep, it’s one continuous page) which means you were watching and learning, but maybe too late to make the needed changes in your ballot choices.

Unfortunately, it takes either 2 or 4 years to perform a "do-over."

Stay tuned, we just got some more disturbing inside city information which we will bring to you probably next week if we can verify the facts. If true, they are alarming and costly at best and need to be exposed, which we will.
